Truth Comes in the Storm

I sit before the Father remembering months ago when the skies darkened and the rains fell. During this storm God spoke clearly and deeply to my soul.

I found myself drowning in a storm – a family conflict, hurt feelings, misunderstandings! I could see no blue sky … I could hear no birds singing. I only detected piercing cries – my own voice as the anguish squeezed the breath from my lungs. I brought myself to the Lord as a broken mess and He responded to me.

He spoke and my heart fluttered to life again. The clouds parted and a sunbeam reached my soul. I remembered what I had learned many years earlier at camp …  the rainstorms wash the earth clean! After the downpour the earth sparkles fresh and clean!

Could it be? Could it be that God brought back the sparkle in my life through that storm that knocked me to my knees? Maybe being on my knees is a good place … a position of healing!!

It’s storming again today … I hear the distant rumble and I grab my coffee and pen, fling open the porch door, and I wait. I desire the washing. I crave the Word from my LORD. I thirst for new Truth!

Wow … Have I come full circle in these short months? From a broken heap of chaos to a hopeful seeker of Truth?

IMG_1838 - Version 2LORD, your Word is Truth! You do restore your people. It’s true that You will never leave us nor forsake us! I believe your WORD that says You love us with an everlasting love. THANK YOU for loving me in the middle of my shambles. THANK YOU for redeeming me and healing relationships!

He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. ~Psalm 23:3

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you. ~Deuteronomy 31:8

I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.  ~Jeremiah 31:3
